We were in Paris, the world capital of decoration, in the charming neighborhoods of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Rue du Mail and Place Saint-Sulpice, on the occasion of the Deco deactivated: theevent dedicated to textile design during which over 150 publishers open the doors of their ateliers to preview the new collections. Our immersion in the effervescent climate of Paris began with a breakfast at La Pré aux Clercs, a delicious French pastry shop that seems to have come out of a postcard: the inviting scent of coffee and pain au chocolat immediately transported us into the right mood, making us savor the typical Parisian elegance.
Walking among the historic buildings is already an emotion in itself: elegant facades, ancient doors and alleys that contain the charm of a city rich in history and art. But in these days dedicated to the Paris Deco Off, everything is transformed further. The shop windows are filled with precious fabrics, color samples and new patterns, while the details stand out in a riot of shades that capture the eye. It’s like getting lost in an open-air museum, where every corner offers a fragment of creativity.
The streets themselves are decorated with large fabric lampshades, which hang from the street lamps creating a fairy-tale atmosphere. At every step you encounter installations created by the publishers: arches of multicolored fabrics, mannequins covered in bold prints or real works of textile art that tell fascinating stories. You let yourself be guided by curiosity and enter the ateliers to discover the new settings, touch the materials and breathe in the contagious energy of an event that celebrates beauty in all its forms.
