A architect Thais Mendes and his teamwere responsible for producing the environment with the Green Wells Quilt Kitat the invitation of Casoca and Casa Almeida.

The starting point for the design of the room was linear and natural concept present in the Luxus Wells quilt. With pieces of metal structure supported by a sturdy concrete wall, a 12×6 m pavilion was created with the floor and ceiling supported by a system of equally spaced beams.
The rationality and straight lines of the structure recall the linearity presented in the print of the Luxus Wells Buddemeyer Quilt Kit. Furthermore, the technology and modulation are also present create a clean, but at the same time sophisticated environment.
The materials that make up the project, such as bamboo and wood, reflect a air of rusticity and contact with natureas well as the cotton and linen present in the Luxus Wells Green quilt kit, giving a feeling of comfort.
Bringing contact with nature into our homes, making our space not only functional, but also a space for contemplation and relaxation, were the guiding points for designing the room.
Making this duality between industrial systems, such as metal structures, and the strong presence of glass contrast with elements that stimulate our tactile sense, such as slats and fabrics, causes a air of modernity and at the same time of warmth and naturalnessthis was what they wanted to bring to space.

“We don’t approach the creative process in a linear way, so some projects may begin with an overall purpose, while others are inspired by details. Because our design method is made to meet different perspectives of interpretation and inspiration regarding the space, starting from the quilt the project developed in a very natural way”, explains architect Thais Mendes.
Certainly, the quilt’s proposed design has already provided the team with initial insights into what could become delimiting concepts for the project, such as linearity, modernity, the technology involved, and the sensations of comfort and naturalness they could explore. Thais says: “This is in line with the values we believe in when developing architectural projects and has influenced our work.”
They imagined an entire environment that would take place in a space of refuge and contemplation of nature, like a pavilion disconnected from the body of a house, allowing exploration from the construction system, to the detail of the bamboo slat panel (which carries the intention of the line), all connected to the concept explored by the quilt itself.

About the office

The Thais Mendes Arquitetura studio is the composition of each person who has written many chapters of his story and of each person who continues to write.
All those who have left and leave their story have been chosen with great care based on each of the principles that structure and are part of the vision that represents the office. The projects carried out have an impact on people’s lives!
“We are the representation of our values. Therefore, creating projects that nurture the culture, values and meanings of our clients is an essential premise in every new creation,” explains Thais Mendes.
They believe in the presence of life in every designed space. Understanding the need to represent and enhance every detail, every place, every symbol that enhances what it represents and brings an environment to life. The purpose of the office is to develop spaces for this life to happenand not just be a visual representation.
All projects are designed based on an agile methodology. Therefore, they believe intensely in customer experience throughout the entire process. Looking for an experience in line with the idea of continuous development. To this end, the entire team engages in projects that aim for efficient returns, set based on the complexity of the solution. On this side, each project becomes unique and completely personalizedsatisfying the needs of each person.
Thais says: “We build strong teams, invested in our clients’ dreams, and we like to transform, experiment and innovate, with an emphasis on results. Around here, we usually say that a successful project happens when our clients use the real space. This means that we always follow this transformation process from start to finish until we finally see everyone taking advantage of the new space created.”
