Iuliana comes from a family with artistic inclinations. Her mother and older sister were role models who always encouraged her to improve herself faster. Her mother, Elena Done, graduated from the Buzau Art High School, steps she and her sister followed from elementary school until the end of high school. Daniela (sister) graduated from the faculty and master in painting, at the National University of Art in Bucharest, and is now specializing in the field of photography – you can follow her on the Facebook page Dana Dinca or on tumblr – danadincaphotography.
Iuliana has developed a passion for design and visual arts since childhood and continues this direction of interest in fine arts, giving meaning to compositions, starting from a concept, combining functionality and utility with aesthetics. The environment was such as to arouse his interest in the fields of the arts.
1. How did you discover your inclination towards the field of interior design?
– I remembered it late… since I was little I went to specialized furniture shops and I liked spending time there, but I was too young… nine to ten years old, and the shop consultants kicked me out (sparse) since I didn’t have the opportunity to buy, I was just curious, I didn’t even know why.
2. But this chosen field is quite broad, and we know that you have dabbled in other branches as well. Can you tell us which one?
– I have always liked to draw. For many years at university I refused to use software for making three-dimensional images, I liked to draw by hand, and this helps me a lot now, I immediately make sketches of ideas, I outline them together with the beneficiaries. I didn’t abandon this inclination, I continued to draw, to paint – I even painted furniture 🙂
Last year, together with my colleague and friend Andreea, we created Le muc, an imaginary character that comes to life easily. In the future, we are thinking of making fun little animations with this character.
3. What do you think about how the interior design profession is seen?
– Currently many professionals and older colleagues don’t see the purpose of our work, but it exists. We have a greater affinity for details and when we think about an interior design, we are more inclined towards the needs and sensations of the future user. The architectural profession in general is currently undervalued (with a few exceptions), it is built a lot, quickly, cheaply – stupidly, but this is the market.
I believe that the only way we could redirect the type of approach in this field is for the user, the one who benefits from the constructions, to become more demanding, to understand the need to turn to a person specialized in this field and to stop accepting compromises that in the long term will affect himself internally and the city externally. Maybe this type of construction, which embarrasses us, will no longer be successful, will no longer be «sold», will no longer be sought after. But I wonder how long will this process of mass education in good taste last? since at this moment the proportion is the opposite of a normal balance, our kitsch must not prevail.
4. How did you come to Delta Studio? And more precisely, what do you do in the company?
– I participated in a summer school organized by Cristina Serban in 2011, there I met several suppliers, studios specialized in the distribution/consultancy of interior design products. But at Delta I really met professionals who knew everything about their products, and on top of that there were also top-of-the-line products. A year later, during the summer, some internship positions opened up. I applied without thinking twice, then I was well received among my colleagues.
– In the first year I interacted with customers, forming a team with sales agents. I learned about the products and met different types of people. I have learned that to have a successful project, it must be disciplined and correct.
– I currently deal with the commercial interior design part. It is different, for example, from the interior design of houses. The requirements for exposure are different, they change often, you have to be constantly fresh and spontaneous. It’s a new challenge and I have to be careful about what message I communicate indirectly through the resulting presentations. And I like to write, I find some topics that I put on the blog, I like to communicate my opinion.
Next we present some of Iuliana Dinca’s projects, projects through which she has managed to gain the trust of clients and develop an impressive portfolio.
Living orange youth
The space dedicated to the living room in a house represents that place where you allow «strangers» into the intimacy of your personal home.
Starting from this premise, and taking into account both the development of individual recreational activities, I wanted to obtain a welcoming environment that would revitalize the people who participate in this framework.
Neutral colors and shapes for the geometric elements that define space and function, harmonized with strong chromatic accents through flat shades or vegetal-inspired graphics.
Very garden
A bathroom with personality.
I had the opportunity to use the spectacular finishes represented by the Oxo Garden ceramic tiles by Porcelanosa, in combination with a background with a reference to natural marbled tiles, which enhance the furniture and bathroom fixtures in this bathroom.
The size of the bathroom is what allowed me to combine products with personality and choose a predominantly natural theme. Cordivari’s radiator also has the same reference: the intertwining of a treVery natural from Madagascar
On neutral tones, in this bathroom I tried a refined association of different textures of the adjacent finishes.
The distribution of toilets in a relatively small space represented a difficulty in the first phase. But by opting for the custom-made DOMINO furniture from the SMART LUXURY collection, it was possible to include a generous sink and a bathtub.
The bathroom’s personality can be given by the placement of colorful accessories – as color accents.
Very leafy
I really had an affinity for these plant-inspired ceramic tiles, including their very «warm» texture to the touch. The quality of some products simply inspires you!
The background tiles, which do not have a strong design, are placed on the long sides of the room, managing to increase the space through the light color. I wanted the color accents to direct, contrast and brighten up the space.
Victorian mirror
A generous and spectacular bathroom space thanks to the type of finishes chosen. He opted for overall light tones, both on the floor and on the walls. Instead, the toilet and tub area is highlighted, using a mosaic with mirror inserts.
For this composition I played with a mosaic of stones (black marble to be exact) and with mirror inserts. I used the wall covering of the sink with a continuous mirror, to be aligned with the mosaic covering, which reflects it exactly. For the lighting I opted for a light box brought to the foreground with mirrors: the effect of the light doubles through reflection.
The aesthetic radiator by Cordivari is dark in color to resonate with the Victorian Chain Marquina Mirror mosaic by Porcelanosa. All these elements combined manage to create an open, noble and at the same time particularly modern atmosphere.
Black mirror
In this bathroom, space has not been the most generous friend. Rectangular and long, with the position of the water and drainage systems already established, it was possible to avoid the wagon-type effect by treating it with white ceramic tiles for the long walls and black for the back one. Also special is the choice of Muse bathroom fixtures by Catalano, whose sinuous and volumetric shape helps to streamline the composition.
The sink is enriched by opting for the spectacular Mirror Black mosaic. For brightness and transparency, a light slit is also proposed to the left of the sink, symmetrical with the full-height window on the opposite side. In the same spirit, the aesthetic bathroom radiator was also chosen – by Cordivari, positioned in front of the mirror to duplicate the effect and for the two vertical ones to break up the longevity of the side walls. Including the BCN lighting body positioned above the mirror, it is chosen from the same visual family.
Black mirror kitchen
Glossy black MDF combined with a turned black quartz top.
A simple kitchen from a chromatic point of view, but with a visible impact. By opting for glossy white glass as a finish between the furniture bodies, the reflections between the surfaces create interesting translucency effects that give continuity to the space through the mirroring.
Baie Lady T
A bathroom of 1.5 m2. To increase the visual space, we opted for a white and open covering: Deco Nacare and Nacare Blanco from the SMART LUXURY range by Delta Studio. The Sfera toilet by CATALANO – is in fact the smallest, it is only 50 cm long and adapts perfectly to small bathrooms.
The most spectacular element is the Talassa sink by Marmorin, which gives the bathroom uniqueness and elegance together with the mirror and the lighting body positioned laterally. The sink rests asymmetrically on an oak veneered top, a finish that is found on the shelves above the tub, warming the atmosphere.Vanilla suite
The ceramic tiles from the Saigon Marfil collection by PORCELANOSA form an elegant background with discreet plant-inspired decorations. The SLIM furniture from the SMART LUXURY collection has been adapted to the needs of the beneficiary, for two Bowl-type sinks. All products are found in the SMART LUXURY continuity collection, including the Sfera vase by CATALANO and the Neon bathtub by Vitra. The element that contrasts the warm shades of the tiles and furniture is represented by the Madeira Toscana flooring by Metropol.
5. Do you have a motto that guides you?
– I believe it is important to tell a story and I see the installations as the possibility of rewriting everyone’s story, allowing the environment to generate the scenario for some pleasant activities.
Among the favorite mottos: “Practice safe design: Use a Concept” – Petrula Vrontikis
