In Sylvie Ganter’s office, Atelier Cologne – Billie Blanket

A few days ago I had the opportunity to meet Sylvie Ganter, creator and founder (with her beloved Christophe Cervasel) of the sublime Maison de Parfum Atelier Cologne. Dynamic, friendly, kind, Sylvie has a busy life between Paris and New York, but she found time to welcome me and answer my questions. His office, perched on the sixth floor of a Haussmanian building, didn’t look like much until Carole Dugelay (founder of the Yellow Velvet pillow brand, which today excels in decorating and interior design) set foot in it. A radical transformation, warm and welcoming, like these two lovely girls and friends, with whom I spent some delightful moments.

Sylvie, can you introduce Atelier Cologne in one sentence? Atelier Colonia is the creator of Colonia Absolue, a new family of perfumes: a true perfume extract inspired by the legendary Eau de Cologne.

What are the 3 words that characterize Atelier Colonia? Authenticity – Know-how – Cologne that lasts!

Do you give a lot of importance to decoration in your daily life but also in your work? Hugely. I need to feel good! In every sense of the word…

As for this office, you had it completely redesigned by your friend and interior designer Carole Dugelay in September. Why this sudden desire? What did you ask him? We moved into our offices at the beginning of the year, after working ‘garage’ style in our dining room for 4 years… My priority was creating perfumes, I hadn’t had time to get comfortable. Carole came to the rescue! I wanted a place that felt like me, where I felt at home… An eclectic mix of Scandinavian furniture from the 1950s, a Napoleon III desk, Eames for chairs, retro wallpaper and lots of blue… Carole knows me so well, she managed to put the pieces of the puzzle together very quickly…

You say it’s a real pleasure to come and work there now! Can you tell me the differences you perceive in working in an office that you like more than before? I have an incredible view that Carole managed to optimize… I was complaining about not knowing where to place my desk to see the Eiffel Tower… In an instant Carole attached it to the window and that was it! Since then, I have been bathing in the light… All in a cocoon (ultra soft carpet included!). My office has become an extension of my home…

Which websites inspire you? Goop offers a wealth of practical tips, Garance Doré excels at capturing trends, and Lonny Magazine is renowned for its realistic interior design recreations!

Instagram account recommendation? Samantha Dion Baker @sdionbakerdesign. She’s an illustrator from New York. I discovered her talent on Instagram, and her work impressed me so much that I contacted her to discuss a collaboration!

Pinterest account recommendation? Carole Dugelay, of course! Over 30,000 pins, meticulously categorized by theme… I use it for all my professional and personal research…

A recommended decorating space? Saint-Ouen, Rue de Rose… Jérôme Lepert and Jenny Arnould’s «Ali Baba’s Cave.» I found their shop at 106 Rue du Palatine in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris, where they one day opened over 2,000 square meters of private warehouse space. It was a dream come true!

A restaurant recommendation with a fantastic atmosphere? Hotel Amour. I absolutely loved its balcony. I dream of having a balcony like this someday… Until then, it’ll serve as my water bottle!
