The Loft – an unconventional space created by Beelive

Anca Fetcu Lupu, designer and Ioana Daniel, architect are the perfect creative duo, and have been collaborating on the Beelive formula for over a year. The similar, but at the same time different, background helps them to complement each other perfectly and carry out «outside the box» projects.

Every agreement starts from the discovery of the customer and his needs. They don’t like to go down beaten paths, but they try to find truly personalized approaches in each project, created with love for each individual client. This can also be seen in the furnishing phase of an exhibition, where it combines unique elements by Beelive with new pieces from the market.

The work of an interior designer does not just consist of designing, rendering and tracing the construction site. An aspect that often remains unknown concerns the counseling part, which sometimes surprisingly resembles a session with a psychologist. Therefore, if the client is undecided about what they would like their space to look like, a real designer can refer to a lifestyle description or perhaps a created brief. Therefore, together they will find out what the client wants and what suits him, reaching a common consensus.

The mezzanine

The Loft is a space that is part of the Weiss project. The project, carried out in Str. Michael Weiss included four studios located in the same building in the center of Brașov. The client wanted to arrange spaces for rent in the booking/airbnb system, positioning itself in the high-end/premium segment. This was the goal, aimed especially at expatriates.

The building is located in the historic center, being very old, the spaces, in general. in such buildings they are small and tall, grouped around an internal courtyard. The architect or designer took advantage of the height, the old beams, but also the history of the house. This limited them in some points (it did not allow them to distribute spaces), but it allowed them to play at height.

The space features an industrial approach inspired by the famous London lofts. The generous height of the space (approximately 4 meters) was used to make the space more efficient and create a sleeping area above the bathroom. The color scheme, although desaturated, consists of gray and beige tones with black accents. It was necessary to use wood, metal and some fabrics to create the most natural atmosphere possible. Furthermore, the sectional sofa, the centerpiece of the space, can transform into a double bed.

The Beelive duo’s unconventional approach is confirmed by arranging the bathroom in a bold way. A transparent glass wall separates the living room from the bathroom, facilitating direct access to the shower.

This bathroom is designed to inspire couples. For the creation of this space it was decided to use Star Wood Porcelanosa tiles, while the sanitary ware and taps are part of the Noken range.

Suspended, architectural and geometric lighting fixtures reinforce the current industrial concept. The bed is located above the bathroom, on an intermediate level reachable by climbing a ladder with a solid wooden trellis. The same solid wood grid, custom-made by the Meissel&Holz laboratory, also surrounds the space where the bed is placed.

The large space of the studio allowed the integration of a small kitchen and at the same time the placement of a place to serve the meal.

The original floor beams were retained, which the creators of the environment renovated and accentuated by painting the areas integrated into the free spaces white. However, it was decided not to completely cover the brick with plaster and to emphasize the verticality of the space through the lights that accentuate the areas between the windows and the «heavy» curtains that come down near the ceiling. In this way the creative duo achieved the «raw» feel, specific to the London loft space.
