Glamorous and modern – a perfect apartment for a young couple from Bucharest

Furnishing the house from scratch – a thought that sometimes excites the owners. Choosing the furniture, the color palette, the decorative elements – everything seems easy and pleasant in the imagination, but when it comes to putting them into practice, things seem to get a little complicated.

Why? Because arranging a house requires, in addition to the pleasant side, also what concerns the aesthetic side, and technical knowledge regarding measurements, volumes, symmetries and strategic positioning.

For all this you need an architect. Even if it seems like a passing fad, its contribution to the success of the project is decisive. The owners of a 3-room apartment in the third sector of the capital were convinced of this, and they turned to the knowledge and creativity of the architect Cristiana Zgripcea.

She managed to convert the approximately 100m2 “impersonal” of the apartment in the Asmita Gardens residential complex, in a warm, intimate house with a glamorous chic style.

The generous rooms helped me a lot, as they allowed me to creatively combine natural materials and highlight them together, through different color contrasts, says Cristiana Zgripcea.

The independent apartment has three bathrooms, two bedrooms, a 12m2 dressing room2and a kitchen with island, open to the living room.

«The owners wanted a glamorous, intimate and welcoming modern-style home. To achieve this look, we opted for a neutral color palette with strong accents and contrasts and precious, velvety materials.»

The master bedroom is the perfect example.

The nude velvet covering the bed and its oversized headboard, framed by floor-to-ceiling mirrors, create an elegant, distinctive aesthetic and the feeling of generous space.

The parquet in a pleasant natural wood tone gives the bedroom a welcoming air and a warm atmosphere.

From the bedroom there is direct access to a large, very well-organised dressing room, separated by frosted glass doors which, from an aesthetic point of view, outline that glamorous and slightly precious style desired by the owners.

And the sofa in the living room helps create a modern, sophisticated yet tasteful atmosphere. The sofa in fine velvet, in an intense and imposing blue, attracts attention in a pleasant way, certainly being the highlight of the living area.

The gold accents found in the shade of the curtains, the frame of the coffee table, the legs of the chairs and even the decorative pillows contrast interestingly with the navy blue of the sofa.

All these shades «shine» under the strong light of the lighting fixtures whose shape resembles a constellation. Their very shape is a glamorous element.

The apartment has no more and no less than three bathrooms, each with a distinctive aesthetic. The double bathroom, however, is the most special one.

Also equipped with a walk-in shower and a modern freestanding bathtub, its style is strongly influenced by the industrial one, the bathroom furniture being the ones that most resemble this stylistic area.

The minimalist color scheme was used to highlight certain areas of the bathroom: the sink, tub and shower area. The finishes were also not chosen randomly, but with the aim of completing the image of the industrial style, both the tiles and the majolica subtly imitate concrete.

The element that brings the air of glamor that is found throughout the apartment here is the freestanding bathtub, with a matt black finish, which stands out against the light background of the tiles.

The lighting fixtures installed in this area maintain the atmosphere of a personal spa. They play the same role in the shower area with glass screen.

In the second bathroom the modern-glamorous style is fully found. Porcelanosa tiles that imitate black marble are the protagonists of the bathroom and also set the tone for the room. It also dresses up the integrated bathtub, being in total contrast with the tiles that imitate white marble.

The accent wall is tiled with a metallic design that reflects light. In all this seemingly cold decor, the wooden mosaic and veneer front of the bathroom furniture warm the atmosphere, putting it in tune with the rest of the house.

The third bathroom has a completely different design from the two and, for that matter, from the entire apartment. Vibrant colors are the differentiator here.

The multicolored finishes with geometric patterns are almost charming and the pink painted MDF front of the bathroom furniture supports this effect. It is the golden accents that bring the glamorous influences here, communicating harmoniously, from a chromatic point of view, with the brown layered parquet.

To still maintain elegance and chromatic balance, the colored finishes were «turned off» with white tiles, with a discreet design. The bathroom also stands out for its geometric associations: the rigid and straight shapes of the tiles and the body of the furniture are tamed, almost imperceptibly, by those curves found at the height of the golden sink, the mirror and the elegant radiator.
